MASTERS OF HORROR

MASTERS OF HORROR
Now Streaming on Netflix
3-5/5 Stars

Rather than a television series, it’s easier to think of the Masters of Horror anthology as a wave of new horror films. Netflix seems to agree, organizing each under its own title (You can find them all by typing “Masters of Horror” in the search bar.). Every one-hour “episode” is directed expertly by a different veteran director, each with his own vision. The consistency is in the crew, particularly the makeup effects of Greg Nicotero, which means that there is no shoddy craftsmanship here. However, the only other consonant element is the genre. The end products are so varied in tone, style, and content that any fan of horror is certain to find some episodes they love- and some not so much.
Some that are already largely considered classics (5 stars from me): Deer Woman, Cigarette Burns, Dreams in the Witch House, The Screwfly Solution, and Incident On and Off a Mountain Road. Also be sure to check out Sick Girl, Jenifer, and Sounds Like.
